Do you love and approve of yourself?

The answer is sleeping
Inside your heart
True love that you long for
That’s where it starts

And you’ll try for love
And you’ll cry for love
‘Til you learn to love yourself
And you’ll lie for love
And you’ll die for love
‘Til you learn to love yourself…

Breathe it out and breathe it in
Trust the light that shines within
Let it burn ’til you learn to love yourself
Breathe it out and breathe it in
Trust the light that shines within
Let it burn ’til you learn to love yourself

By: Olivia Newton John – verses from – Learn To Love  Yourself

I love and approve of myself and I trust the process of life. I am safe.

By: Louise Hay – from her book “You Can Heal Your Body”

When was the last time you looked in the mirror and truly loved and approved of yourself EXACTLY the way you are?

One of my all time favorite self help writers is Louise Hay, she wrote a book called “You Can Heal Your Life” and also “You Can Heal Your Body”.  Both books are amazing and what I found most interesting is that she believes that all diseases start from within our minds.  She has taken every disease and wrote about the probable cause (which are thought patterns in our lives) and then wrote affirmations to fix them.  At first I was skeptical but then I looked at my own personal situation and found that she was completely right.

Many of the diseases she lists comes down to people not loving and approving of themselves.  Negative thought patterns are a big problem.

Today’s song has a great suggestion, Olivia says “Breathe it out and breathe it in,Trust the light that shines within, Let it burn ’til you learn to love yourself”.  It can’t hurt to try it and then to end the day with one of Louise’s affirmations “I love and approve of myself” :) It’s worth a shot :)

Love this pic, it summarizes what happens when we start learning to love ourselves……

love yourself

Hakuna Matata

Hakuna Matata, what a wonderful phrase
Hakuna Matata, ain’t no passing craze
It means no worries for the rest of your days
It’s our problem free philosophy, Hakuna Matata

By: Disney – from the Lion King (Thanks Connie!)

Worry does not empty tomorrow of its troubles. It empties today of its strength.

What if our first thought today was “Hakuna Matata”?

As I look around lately there is too much stress and worry in people’s faces.  I really think it is time that we all adopt a “problem free philosophy” and when worry creeps in we just say “Hakuna Matata”.

Today’s quote is a reminder that worry does nothing but take our strength away so let’s let it all go today and start singing “Hakuna Matata, ain’t no passing craze…..” :)

no worries

Need a miracle?

He lost his job and all he had in the fall of ’09
Now he feared the worst, that he would lose his children and his wife
So he drove down deep into the woods and thought he’d end it all
And prayed, “Lord above, I need a miracle”

Well no matter who you are and no matter what you’ve done
There will come a time when you can’t make it on your own
And in your hour of desperation
Know you’re not the only one
Prayin’, “lord above, I need a miracle
I need a miracle”

He turned on the radio to hear a song for the last time
He didn’t know what he was looking for, or even what he’d find
The song he heard gave him hope and strength to carry on
And on that night they found a miracle
They found a miracle

And in your hour of desperation
Know you’re not the only one
Prayin’, “lord above, I need a miracle”

By: Third Day – verses from – I Need A Miracle

“There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.”

By: Albert Einstein

Do you need a miracle?

I found one awhile back, I started listening to Star 99.1 which is a christian rock station. Now for those of you who know me on a personal level you must be thinking “how did she go from AC/DC, Bruce & Bon Jovi to christian rock?” :) Well, I have found that I need different kinds of music in my life and they all have a place.  Star 99.1 is a wonderful way to start and end my day, the music is so peaceful and filled with reminders on the importance of God in my life.

Today’s song was playing and I thought to myself “wow what a powerful message”. I’m sure there has been a time in all of our lives where we just wanted to give up and truly needed a miracle to go on.

Today’s song says when we get to that point just say “Lord above, I need a miracle”.  I love how the end of the song talks about the miracle he received was just a song on the radio that gave him hope and strength to carry on.  Sometimes miracles come in small packages.

Today’s quote reminds us of that, Einstein says we need to live our lives as if everything is a miracle both big and small.

My Dad always told me “You’ve got to believe” :)

Find the way out of darkness

Like a warrior that fights
And wins the battle
I know the taste of victory
Though i went through some nights
Consumed by the shadows
I was crippled emotionally
Somehow i made it through the heartache
Yes i did. I escaped.
I found my way out of the darkness
I kept my faith (i know you did), kept my faith

When the river was deep i didn’t falter
When the mountain was high i still believed
When the valley was !ow it didn’t stop me, no no
I knew you were waiting. I knew you were waiting for me

By: George Michael & Aretha Franklin – verses from – I Knew You Were Waiting

Dare to reach out your hand into the darkness, to pull another hand into the light.

By: Norman B. Rice

Do you know someone who is having a hard time finding their way out of the darkness?

I truly love today’s song,  it talks about being crippled emotionally and making it through heartaches.   Aretha says she found her way out of the darkness by keeping the faith and believing that someone would be there for her to help her through.

Today’s quote is a reminder that if you know someone who is struggling, reach out your hand and help them through that darkness.  There is nothing greater than pulling someone into the light.

What if today we all focused on this, I wonder how many people we could help?

Word of the day – HAPPY

It might seem crazy what I’m about to say
Sunshine she’s here, you can take a break
I’m a hot air balloon that could go to space
With the air, like I don’t care baby by the way
Because I’m happy

Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof
Because I’m happy
Clap along if you feel like happiness is the truth
Because I’m happy
Clap along if you know what happiness is to you
Because I’m happy
Clap along if you feel like that’s what you wanna do

Here come bad news talking this and that, yeah,
Well, give me all you got, and don’t hold back, yeah,
Well, I should probably warn you I’ll be just fine, yeah,
No offense to you, don’t waste your time

Here’s why
Bring me down
Can’t nothing bring me down

By: Pharrell Williams – verses from – Happy

The best way to cheer yourself up is to try to cheer somebody else up.

By: Mark Twain

Word of the day –  HAPPY.

If you are struggling with feeling happy, Mark Twain has an idea, “cheer somebody else up” and  he says in the end it really is the “best way to cheer yourself up”. It’s a win win.

Today’s song is all about a man who is truly feeling happy, no one can get him down.  So how did he get that way?

Today’s picture tells you how, it was simple, he made a CHOICE :)

Flashback Friday

Oh yeah, I’ll tell you something
I think you’ll understand
When I’ll say that something
I wanna hold your hand
I wanna hold your hand
I wanna hold your hand

Oh please, say to me
You’ll let me be your man
And please, say to me
You’ll let me hold your hand
I’ll let me hold your hand
I wanna hold your hand

By: The Beatles – verses from – I Want To Hold Your Hand

Instead of a quote today, here is the link to the video :)

I’ve posted some pretty deep stuff over the past week so I thought it was time for a little light hearted fun.

Where were you on February 9, 1964?  I wasn’t born yet but was lucky enough to have older siblings who LOVED the Beatles so I grew up listening to their music.

I smile every time I watch the video of the girls screaming, how fun was that?

It reminds me to make sure no matter how old I get to make the time to go to a fun concert and twist and shout :)

They will always be one of my favorites :)

Top song of all time?

Come on baby
Let’s do the twist
Come on baby
Let’s do the twist
Take me by my little hand
And go like this

Ee-yah twist
Baby, baby twist
Ooh yeah, just like this
Come on little miss and do the twist

By: Chubby Checker – verses from – The Twist

Dancing, apart to music with a beat, is my legacy.

By: Chubby Checker

Do you know what the number 1 song of all time is (based on Billboard’s top 100)?

It is today’s song by Chubby Checker – “The Twist”.

I must say I really thought it would be a song by Elvis, the Beatles or the Stones but Billboard is right, this is a great song.

Today’s quote is in honor of him, I always tell my kids that it isn’t music if it doesn’t move your feet.  This song is a great reminder of that, you can’t listen to this song without twisting :)

If I get crabby today, I’m SO going to play this song :)

People who bring you joy

Joy to the world
All the boys and girls, now
Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea
Joy to you and me

By: Three Dog Night – verse from – Joy To The World

Joy is contagious

Every one of us have certain people in our lives that bring us joy.  You know the people I’m talking about, the ones that make you smile even on your crabbiest of days.

Today let’s take a moment to think about those people and how blessed we are to have them.

Today’s song reminds us about how we feel when we are with those people, we get feelings of giving joy to the world.  Why is that? because like today’s quote says “joy is contagious”.

So what do you do when people in your life take away your joy? Everyone has a bad day now and then but the people who consistently take away our joy really have to go…….. Like today’s picture says – Life is TOO short.

Put the past behind you

You’d better put it behind you now
You’d better put it behind you now
Too much to hold on, hold on to (Hold on, hold on to)

By: Keane – verse from – Put It Behind You

Reflect on your present blessings, of which every man has many; not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some.
By: Charles Dickens (1812 – 1870)

Is it time to put your past behind you?  We are all human, we have all made mistakes in our past, the key is to learn the lesson and then put the past behind us.

Today’s song says “you better put it behind you NOW”.  Why wait?

Today’s quote says instead of dwelling on the past “reflect on your present blessings” which we all have.  It really is amazing how spending your time being grateful for what you have and less time beating yourself up over your past mistakes makes for a happier life :)

Time to move forward

I stand before, a road that will lead,
Into the unknown. At least unknown to me.
I want to go, but I’m paralysed with fear.
Fear of a choise, where the outcome isn’t clear.

Nooo, but still I gooo.

And I take, the first step of a million more.
And I’ll make mistakes I’ve never made before.
But at least I’m moving forward, at least I’m moving forward.
At least I’m moving forward…

By: Hoobastank – verses from – Moving Forward

We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.
By: Walt Disney

Is it time to move forward?

Today’s song says even if you are paralyzed with fear, still go, move forward. It might just be the first step of a million and you might make mistakes but at least you will be moving forward.

Walt reminds us today to “keep moving forward” and “opening new doors” because it will lead us down new paths.

move forward
